Perhaps you’re not in the same city or that you’ve not been in touch for a while. Even if you attended the funeral service, and worked hand in hand to help your friend, a hand-written condolence letter about a friend’s loss goes a long way in comforting someone going through a tough time.

If you’ve been facing a blank paper or screen endlessly, here’s a sample note that can be used should you need to write to your friend.

Writing A Condolence Letter About a Friend's Loss

Sample Text: Condolence Letter to a Friend

Dear Lisa,

I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing your father is a devastating feeling. Even as I write this to you, my eyes are welling up with the magnitude of emotions and pain that you’re going through.

I urge you to believe that things will get better. Your father’s memories will always be the guiding force in your life. He will live on in the world through the memories and stories of him that you share, and keep in your heart. If you’re feeling stuck in a place, I want you to know that you’re stronger than you think you are. Please allow yourself time and mindspace to heal and work through this time.

At any point when you need someone to listen to you, I am here. I know I can’t change how you feel today, but I am here to help when you need me.

I send you love and a hug of strength,
Christy
